Jeweler: the winner of the bet and the producer will be covered by Saint Mark’s Basilica
By Kitty Trice
Moyglare Stud has an enviable group of young broodmares ready to take on the role of the prolific Polished Gem, dam of current star Search For A Song, Free Eagle and proven breeder Sapphire, and it’s full steam ahead for the operation. this next breeding season.
On the track, the two-time Irish St Leger Search For A Song winner remains in training with Dermot Weld, while there are also progressive types to look forward to, such as band interpreter Federica Sofia and well-regarded filly of Harzand, Port Sunlight, while Moyglare blood Councilor Fiona Craig also had plenty of news about current talented broodmare owner Eva Maria Bucher-Haefner can call on.
The 16 year old majestic silver is one of the older mares but still a force to be reckoned with.
An unreleased half-sister Linamix to multiple stud black-type winner Profound Beauty, Majestic Silver is the dam of Group winner Carla Bianca, Group 2 winner True Solitaire and Stakes winner Joailliere. She was barren at Blue Point and is returning to Stallion Kildangan this term.
Craig said: “Majestic Silver has been a great producer for Moyglare and has a horse in training called Ciel D’Afrique who has been placed in a couple of big handicaps over the past year.
“He’s a great son of Sea The Stars who hopefully has one of those major handicaps in him; hopefully he’ll gain one.”
Majestic Silver’s half-sister Danehill deep beauty will also visit a resident of Kildangan Stud in Night Of Thunder – she was barren to him in 2021.
Profound Beauty’s daughter, double bet winner Stone Rosemeanwhile, is due to Kingman’s broodmare and goes to Camelot.
Craig said: “Rose De Pierre is a mare who lost her first foal and then had a problem with her second, but her Frankel is nice. She is not very big, but the Frankel is beautiful and very solid. She’s going to Camelot, which hopefully should suit her.
Carla Biancawinner of the Dance Design Fillies Stakes and Meld Stakes among four black type wins, foaled from Wootton Bassett and will visit Sea The Stars.
Craig said: “She is doing very well, her first foal Emilie Gray was a winner and remains in training, while her second foal [Sassofortino] left to be a stallion at Gurteen Stud.
“Unfortunately we lost his filly Sea The Stars, but his yearling No Nay Never is also a filly, and she is lovely.”
His half-sister Dubawi Jeweler is about to visit one of the season’s most exciting first season studs at St. Mark’s Basilica.
Craig reported that the ten-year-old had a “lovely” yearling Frankel, while she is also the dam of Listed winner Reve De Vol and up-and-coming Homeless Songs.
She said: “Joaillière’s first foal was Reve De Vol and her second foal was Homeless Songs, who will be a good filly this year, and she has a very nice two-year-old Sea The Stars in training as well as a full brother of Homeless Songs.”
Sapphire tries to carry on the remarkable legacy of Polished Gem and, after giving birth to a Dubawi filly last year, is in foal to No Nay Never and is booked for champion miler Palace Pier.

Medicean’s daughter is the mother of two black-type artists Federica Sophia and Kiss For A Jewel.
Craig said: “I thought there were two outstanding horses that retired to stud this year, which were Palace Pier and St Mark’s Basilica.
“I went to see Palace Pier in October and thought it was magnificent. We went to Galileo with Sapphire and she could use a bit more speed. Her filly Dubawi is very sweet.”
Kiss for a jewel was placed in Group 2 of the Kilboy Estate Stakes and Kingman’s daughter is expected to be covered by Dark Angel, who produced a Frankel filly this year.
Craig said: “She was being considered for sale but she is a Group 2 performer and came out of Sapphire, she was also gender checked and found to be a filly carrier so we decided to to keep it.”
Another daughter of Kingman, All our tomorrowsa product of Ballymacoll Stud and a purchase of 1,700,000 gns by Moyglare of the Ballymacoll scatter in 2017, was reserved for Lope De Vega.
“She had a very nice filly from Dubawi,” Craig said. “She made all that money from sales, but she got tripped up by her stable mate on her Cork debut, and unfortunately that just didn’t happen for her on the racetrack. ”
While Search For A Song remains in training, with relations hoping for more success in Group 1, her sister Galileo Amma Grace has retired and will follow a familiar path to greater Dubawi.
“She was a Listed winner and placed in a group and is physically totally different from her Search For A Song sister,” says Craig. “Search For A Song is tall and elongated while Amma looks more like her mother and should suit Dubawi. “
Another mare new to the ranks of Moyglare is Sonailawho was salvaged from the Aga Khan Studs for 900,000 gns at Tattersalls December Mare Sale 2020.
Dark Angel’s daughter stayed in training last year, winning the Ballyogan Stakes and placing third behind Glass Slippers in the Flying Five Stakes for Paddy Twomey.

Fiona Craig: Outlined Moyglare blue blood broodmares plans
Craig said: “She was going to go to Frankel last year and then Eva put her back in training and she won a Group 3. Unfortunately she then picked up a relatively minor injury but will now do this for what she was bought, which is to go to Frankel.”

Craig said: “We brought Princess Highway back from America because she was struggling a bit. This family is very big and they were barren for Uncle Mo so we went to Too Darn Hot and she will now go to Gleneagles because her stats are good and he should probably suit him physically.”
Princess Highway’s Indian Ridge half-sister Crazy of you has a yearling filly by Showcasing, an Invincible Spirit filly and will now be heading to New Bay.
The 17-year-old produced the third Silver Flash Stakes winner, A Ma Chere, a daughter of Kodiac.
Also note Acapella Bluea Dubawi winning daughter and Listed winning sister to Breeders’ Cup winner Turf Red Rocks, who produced a filly by recently retired Le Havre and visits Study Of Man, and love in the suna close relative of Kodiac with four-time Hong Kong Group 1 winner Designs On Rome and Sights On Gold, who has a foal by Saxon Warrior and is visiting another Lanwades Stud sire at Sea The Moon.

Craig said of the juvenile filly from Unaccompanied: “She’s got a two-year-old Tamayuz in training which is probably the best she’s had. She’s showing a bit of a lead but unfortunately Unaccompanied then lost her Camelot before sliding to Australia. Make Believe showed he can have a good horse.”
