Aidan O’Brien had saddled the last six winners of this maiden, raced on the day of the Derby Trials, and they included The Mediterranean and Bondi Beach, both of which finished in the English St Leger, and Il Paradiso, third in the MelbourneCup.

His favorite Waterville had to settle for second place behind Fumata (who had trained well in his early days behind Ballydoyle’s Stone Age) and it was disappointing that Waterville hadn’t taken a bigger step in before since its inception.

There was nothing disappointing about the beginnings of GULLIVER’S TRAVELSa yearling purchase of E2,000,000 with a matching pedigree.

Relatively easy on the market (although late support sent him off at 8/1), Gulliver’s Travels ran into midfield and took a while to get organized as the pack recovered from the corner final with just over two stages to go. and Wayne Lordan gave him a few hits as his inexperience showed.

Gulliver’s travels resumed startlingly inside the final furlong, devouring the ground once he reached his stride only to be beaten just over five lengths into what should prove to be a strong maiden and the next two or three chapters of his journey are eagerly awaited.

Favorite Shartash landed the chances in the two-year-old contest in his second start, but he had very little to lose against above-average stablemate newcomer Aidan O’Brien.

THE AGE OF KINGS shaped promisingly as the pair of them pulled away from the other two riders, racing, showing their inexperience by flashing their tails as they were led and, although led into the final furlong, rallying for descend through just one nose.

As a prize of 1.1 million guineas suggests, Age of Kings has a smart pedigree as he is by Kingman and is the first colt of May Hill Stakes winner Turret Rocks, who then managed up to a mile and quarter. Sure to progress from its debut, Age of Kings at least looks like a useful two-year-old in the making and will be well-prepared to win races.

Ryan Moore has been seen on the Roodee time and time again this week, whether from forward or in Cleveland’s late delivery to clinch the Chester Cup, but it was a run that eluded him by the narrowest margins. narrow as, in a typical Chester Race, the position on the track played a big role in the result.

Held and riding with enthusiasm, Moore’s mount BOOSALA continued but failed to lap up Red Mirage who got the first run over most of their rivals leading the entry into the final furlong and briefly cleared before Boosala forced a shot.

Nonetheless, it was a smart effort from the William Haggas-trained five-year-old who put up a smart effort as he conceded a stone to the winner. Lightly raced for his age, Boosala looks set to win a similar event soon, especially on a more galloping track.

KOY KOY had to settle for second place on his handicap debut, but he has the form of a horse that is ahead of his mark and has even more to offer.

Koy Koy progressed well as a juvenile, claiming a dominant victory in novice company at Newbury, and he took his form up a notch in Chester, despite things not going well.

He stumbled out of the stalls, then shot hard, proving fresh on his first start since September. He also covered more ground than the winner, going three wide on the home turn as Outgate got a nice split, but he continued well to finish a length behind the progressive rival.

Koy Koy should prove at least as efficient over a mile and as a large unfurnished colt he has room to improve.

Above The Curve is shaped like the best filly in the Cheshire Oaks, and looks unlucky not to be under the spell of June’s Thoughts, but MOON OF VEGA also caught the eye in fourth position.

Moon De Vega was beaten to around six and a half lengths but would have finished closer had she not been severely hampered by weakened rivals over two furlongs while continuing to do well.

She’s carried on well after being forced to change, looking unsurprisingly at home on this longer journey given her pedigree, and there’s more to come on the middle grounds.

It was just an ordinary two-year event and the winner used her experience, but COLLECT caught the eye on his debut and seems a surefire improver.

He was far too green to make an impact, but the penny started to drop as the race progressed and he was doing all his work at the finish, staying unstuck to take third place.

There’s a lot of stamina on the dam’s side of his pedigree, so for him to train like he did on the minimum trip is encouraging, and he’s more than capable of winning a similar event next time around. .

She had the worst of the draw here and SNOW GIRL has shown enough to suggest she could take part in a small race in the coming weeks.

Running from stall 13, Kevin Ryan’s charge was green at the back of the pack and rode the length of three outings, but the penny dropped in the closing stages and came home safely.

Six stadiums will be an option in the future and she clearly has more ability than she was able to show in her first two starts.
