PS Zeinab Hussein accused of corruption when she announces the sale of cattle in prison –

Questions were raised by the Home Office after one of the departments headed by PS Zeinab Hussein advertised the sale of prison service cattle when the department needed them for weekly consumption.
According to sources within the Home Ministry’s Corrections Department, PS Zeinab Hussein announced the sale of 4,000 head of cattle at an auction on May 25 via an ad inviting bids on the number d. call for tenders SDC / 34 / 2020-2021.
The announcement was apparently sent despite protests from key agricultural staff in the prison service who questioned why the sale should be through an auction and not by the Kenya Meat Commission (KMC) which has been reactivated. by the army and is now operational. Junior prison staff are now worried that well-connected personalities will simply buy the cattle cheaply at an organized auction and then supply the same to KMC for huge profits.
The prison administration needs at least 1,100 tonnes of meat every year to satisfy the more than 53,000 inmates in our prisons.
The prison service decided to keep the cattle in order to reduce the costs of purchasing meat whenever prisoners raised and slaughtered animals to meet their needs. There is no clear explanation as to why this is changing as the department is now preparing to sell all the livestock.
Raising and raising animals is also an activity in our correctional centers as it helps convicts to engage in gainful economic activities.
Sources say the government might not get its money’s worth by auctioning them off.
Key prison management in Kenya now believe that PS Zeinab Hussein is focused on crippling the department as she failed to initiate favorable policies to build Kenya’s prisons or even empower them.
President Uhuru Kenyatta recently ordered all disciplined formations to source meat through the newly renovated KMC to develop and empower to start sourcing meat from KMC to develop and empower Farmers.
