Ohio Fall Mixed Sale to be held October 15 – Horse Racing News

The Ohio Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners (OTBO) Mixed Sale is scheduled to begin at the Delaware County Fairgrounds, just outside of Columbus, Ohio, on Friday, Oct. 15 at 2:30 p.m. KST. ballast.
Breeders, owners and shippers came together to catalog over 94 participants in total, making this the largest OTBO sale in several years. The full catalog is available on otbo.com.
Most of the catalog is populated by future stars of the Ohio racing program (both accredited and registered), with 51 yearlings bred in Ohio, 16 juveniles and 11 weaners offered. Offered Ohio-bred yearlings are showcased by hot Kentucky stallions such as Dialed In, Liam’s Map, and premier Army Mule, and Ohio-based stallions such as Itsmyluckyday, National Flag, Fort Larned and 2020 Ohio Stallion of the Year, Mobil.
Offerings include Hip 13 “Lucky,” Storm of Nineteen, a 2-year-old filly registered in Ohio by Get Stormy who is a half-sister to the big-stakes Ohio game, Altissimo, who is himself a 10-time winning stake (nine in Ohio and one in open company); Hip 17, Be True, a fiery Shakespeare multi-stake producer mare from the Ohio stallion Danza, and Hip 18, his one-year-old filly from Ohio by Mshawish.
Hip 28, a 2 year old foal by Oxbow who is a half brother to Rivers Run Deep, perhaps Ohio’s most famous recent kennel (now a stallion), is another with historical ties. Hip 60 is an Awesome Patriot accredited Ohio colt who is the sire of Bella Sofia, a four-time winner of over $ 542,000 this year including Longines Test Stakes Grade 1 and most recently the G2 Gallant Bloom Handicap at Belmont Park September 7. 26.
âThe overall talent offered in this OTBO blended auction catalog will almost certainly bring similar energy to that seen in the Keeneland Seven Yearling sale,â said Tony Fischbach, Ohio-based blood stock agent of Donnybrook Bloodstock. . âThe quality of yearlings bred in Ohio this year is far superior to what we have seen in recent years⦠which shows the commitment of Ohio breeders to raising better and better racehorses.
In recognition of the growing success of the OTBO sale, a new race has been created. The inaugural edition of the OTBO Sales Graduate Stake will take place on March 5 at the Mahoning Valley Racetrack. The race is open to all Ohio-raised / licensed 3-year-olds who have gone through any sale as of 2019, including 2-year-olds registered this year. The scholarship is estimated at $ 50,000 and will be for six stages.
Online auctions will be available. For more information and a full catalog, visit otbo.com.
