No Nay Never has two TDN Rising Stars in three days | Coolmore

By Sean Cronin

Monday’s Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden in Naas was under the co-sponsorship of Coolmore’s No Nay Never in 2017 and 2018, when Alpha Centauri (Ire) (Mastercraftsman {Ire}) and Fairyland (Ire) (Kodiac {GB}) launched their Group 1-laden careers by achieving “TDN Rising Star” status in the six-stadium contest, and the renewal of that tenure went the way of Coolmore and Westerberg Deneuve (Ireland), a daughter of No Nay Never, who emulated those illustrious feuds by digging deep for a debut hit and a “TDN Rising Star” of her own. The 13-8 favorite looked up for the task ahead of time and was well on the way to stalking the front two in a tight third halfway through. Unfazed for the most part, she was pushed along the quarter-mile marker pass and displayed a willful attitude, despite rolling when she sped up under late insistence, to deny the tenacious leader. Comanche Country (Ireland) (Highland Reel {Ire}) by a short header on the line. His victory was a fifth youth success, out of only seven runners, for Aidan O’Brien.

“She’s a big filly and she was quite childish, but we didn’t do much with her,” said the winning trainer. “She did a lot early, but got a bit late about six weeks ago and was just ready to come racing today. We thought it was a great race for her. It was nice terrain, it’s a nice track and we thought the experience would do him good. Ryan [Moore] was very happy with her, he looked after her as best he could and felt that there should be a lot of progress to come. We’ll probably give her two to three weeks before she comes back. It will be interesting to see how far she progresses. She may do a lot.

Deneuve is the only registered colt produced by MGSW G1 Phoenix S. third actress (Ire) (Declaration of War), Alpha Centauri finalist in this round’s 2017 renewal, who is a daughter of MGSW GI Spinaway S. second Nasty Storm (Gulch).
