Emirates News Agency – Hiab Al Zaman wins $100,000 President of the UAE Cup Series for Maryland Arabian Thoroughbreds

MARYLAND, 22nd May, 2022 (WAM) — The reigning Horse of the Year, Hiab Al Zaman; the 2018 race winner and Horse of the Year, took home the $100,000 UAE Cup Series President’s Prize for Purebred Arabians (G1) – America’s richest Arabian race year, which took place at the Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland, on Sunday, one of horse racing’s biggest days, Preakness Stakes Day.
Owned by Susan C and James E. Meyer, Hiab Al Zaman, an Arabian horse born in the United States in 2017, is trained by Jeremias Castro and ridden by Carol Cedeno.
More than 100,000 fans watched the 1770 meter race (G1), the second leg of the 29th edition of the prestigious President of the UAE Cup series for the Purebred Arabians.
The 2022 calendar includes 15 races across Europe, the Middle East and North Africa and the United States of America.
The races, a legacy of the late founding father of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, aim to promote the bloodlines, heritage and identity of Arabian horses around the world.
The 29th edition of the President’s Cup of the United Arab Emirates began on May 15 during the French Guineas at the ParisLongchamp racecourse.
Presented by the UAE Ministry of Presidential Affairs, the UAE President’s Cup Series is the oldest Arab racing series in the world. It started in 1994 and was the first series to visit France, UK, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Ireland, Morocco, Egypt, Canada, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Russia and the United States. In 2022, her world tour includes France, USA, Tunisia, Italy, Poland, Sweden, Belgium, Russia, Germany, UK, Libya, Netherlands , Egypt, Morocco and Saudi Arabia.
