Champion Sire Dansili dies at 25

Juddmonte Farms announced on December 22 the death of its champion stallion Dansili at his birthplace Banstead Manor Stud following a short but aggressive illness. He was 25 years old.
Bred by Juddmonte, Danehill’s son was Hasili’s first foal, who grew to a blue hen of considerable notoriety as the dam of seven category / group winners including the category / group 1 winners. Champs Ãlysées , Intercontinental , Bank hill , Cacique , and Heat haze . Champs Elysées, Intercontinental and Banks Hill have also become champions.
Dansili may not have won a Group 1, but he was placed six times in Category / Group 1, including runners-up in the Dubai Poule d’Essai des Poulains (two thousand French guineas, G1), Champagne Lanson Sussex Stakes (G1) and Prix de la Foret (G1) and third in the Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1T). He went on to gain greater influence as one of the leading British bulls and broodmares of his generation.
Formed in France by André Fabre, Dansili won his first and only race at 2 years old, and a victory in four lengths on his debut at 3 years old to make him the big favorite of the French Two Thousand Guineas in 1999. Fifteen runners went at the post, which was one of the biggest areas in racing history, and Dansili only found Sendawar too good. He will race four more times this season, winning the Prix Messidor (G3) and finishing in the Prix du Haras de Fresnay-le-Buffard Jacques le Marois (G1) behind Dubai Millennium and the Emirates Prix du Moulin de Longchamp (G1) .
A tough and consistent activist, Dansili returned to 4 years old to win the Prix Edmond Blanc (G3) and the Prix du Muguet (G2) and finished three more times at the highest level, notably second behind the “Iron Horse” Giant’s Causeway in Sussex. at Goodwood and third at Song of war and north-east direction in the Breeders ‘Cup Mile by a neck and nose, the fastest closing quarterback in Breeders’ Cup history.

Dansili retired 5-4-3 on 14 starts and earned $ 570,686.
Dansili at Banstead Manor Stud
Soon after, Dansili returned to his hometown to Banstead Manor Stud to start a new chapter as a stallion. Dansili went on to spawn 151 black type winners worldwide, including 89 category / group winners and 23 category / group 1 winners. He started with a fee of £ 8,000 and peaked at £ 100,000 due from the generation of exceptional horses such as Flintshire , Presage , Rail link , Condition , Queen’s Trust , Humid , and Fugue . Dank and Queen’s Trust are the winners of the Dansili Breeders ‘Cup World Championships to date, having won the 2013 and 2016 editions of the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf (G1T), respectively. Flintshire was his most successful rider in North America, where he won three grade 1 events and twice finished second in the 2014 and 2016 editions of the Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf (G1T). Flintshire earned $ 9,589,910 in career income. He was also named the Eclipse Grass Horse Champion in 2016.
Dansili became the French champion sire in 2006 and became an exceptional broodmare sire among the group winners Nezwaah , Cliffs of Moher , heroine of Darley Irish Oaks (G1) Chicquita , Time test , Snowy sky , Agent Murphy , Astaire , and the stallion Juddmonte and winner of the Breeders’ Cup Mile Expert eye .
Dansili was retired from stud in 2018 at the age of 22. His influence will be felt in Juddmonte for many years through his daughters in the brood mare group and through the current father-son of Juddmonte. Holding his breath , whose career echoed that of his father to this day.
