Century Boulevard Lane near LAX slated for closure over the next two weeks
LOS ANGELES (CNS) – Until August 30, one to three lane closures will take place on Century Boulevard near Los Angeles International Airport to allow construction of the Automated People Mover project.
One to three lanes on each side of Century will be closed between Avion Drive and Sepulveda Boulevard, with construction generally scheduled between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.
LAX officials, however, said lane closures could take place during the day and night. The three-way closures will only take place overnight or on Saturdays, according to airport officials.
From August 23 to 30, during weekdays from midnight to 4 a.m., motorists will not be able to access Century Boulevard and LAX eastbound from the Sepulveda Boulevard / LAX ramp. Northbound motorists may take a detour to 96th Street to access Century Boulevard and LAX. Motorists exiting LAX from World Way South at the upper level / departures will be routed on the airport return ramp to the lower level / arrivals and central path to exit the terminal area.
The Automated People Mover is part of a $ 14.5 billion modernization project at LAX, the largest airport project of its kind in the United States. the train system at LA Metro and a rental car facility.
Authorities expect the rail system to be ready in 2023, and the full modernization project is expected to be completed before the 2028 Olympics, which will be held in Los Angeles.
