Bleecker Street remains undefeated in Endeavor

The progressive by Peter Brant Bleecker Street (Quality Road) saved their best for last as they decisively separated their rivals and outshot the odds ‘Rising Star TDN‘ Lady Speightspeare (Speightstown) inside the final eighth mile to cause a 7-1 upset in Saturday’s GIII Endeavor S. at Tampa, staying perfect in four starts in the process.
Settling for lingering in the final third of the pitch and rolling on the rail as the once-beaten Lady Speightspeare prompted Longshot Princess Katama (Malibu Moon) through comfortable early splits, Fasig-Tipton Saratoga’s $400,000 acquisition continued to scrape paint on the backstretch while still within striking distance if good enough. Full of racing and traveling beautifully in the wake of Stunning Princess (Cairo Prince) as they reached the top of the lane, Bleecker Street went for a run between their rivals entering the final furrow, inhaled the chalk with about 50 yards to run and kicked impressively, despite his failure to change his leads in the final stages.
“She had a good position, the trip went really well and she showed great turnaround,” said coach Chad Brown, who opted out. ‘TDN Rising Star’ and Tampa’s recent Italian (GB) allocation winner (Dubawi {Ire}) earlier today. “This filly has taken a long time to adapt, and all my staff have done an incredible job with her. And Mr. Brant… is so patient. We scratched In Italian because we thought bringing it back in a month was a bit early, and it worked out so well.
Gray opened his account on his late Jersey Shore career debut last August, graduated half a length and enjoyed a sweet introduction to the allowance society with a hit of a length and a half at the Meadowlands on October 23. Favored 17-10 for her seasonal course and distance debut on January 8, she ran out of room as the real race was about to begin but produced a flying finish similar to Saturday’s. Pythoness (Liam’s Map) by half a length.
