Arabian Horse Festival in Katara ends in a blaze of glory

Doha: The second edition of the Katara International Arabian Horse Festival (KIAHF 2022) ended in a blaze of glory on the Katara Esplanade yesterday with purebred horses truly reflecting the symbols of power, grace and of identity during this glorious 11-day festival.

The festival captured the imagination of horse connoisseurs among owners, breeders, riders and horse lovers with the participation of over 500 horses from 11 countries.

The closing ceremony of the festival was attended by His Highness Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, Personal Representative of His Highness the Amir; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Thani; HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee; and a number of owners, Their Excellencies Sheikhs and Ambassadors accredited to the State of Qatar and representatives of diplomatic missions.

Host country Qatar dominated the grand final of the prestigious Title Show Championships yesterday with thirteen of the Qatari horses winning across all six championships, including the top three gold, silver and bronze stallion championship finishes seniors and the senior mare championship.

Three of the horses from the United Arab Emirates won podium places, including first place gold in the Junior Foals Championship, while the horse from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia won gold in the Junior Fillies Championship.
The best Arabian horses not only in the Arab region but in the world stood out in all their magnificence when twelve international judges voted to nominate the champions.

EKS Alihandro of Al Jassimya Farm, Qatar won gold at the Senior Stallion Championship, followed by silver champion ES Harir of Al Wajba Stud, Qatar and bronze champion EKS Mansour of Al Shahania Stud, Qatar.

Donna Molta Bella SRA of Al Jassimya Farm, Qatar won gold in the Senior Mares Championship, along with silver champion Nada Al Shahania of Al Shahania Stud, Qatar, and bronze champion Maisa Al Nasser, owned by Sheikh Nawaf bin Nasser Al Thani. from Al Nasser Stud Farm in Qatar.

The first place winner of the Title Show Championship at the Katara International Arabian Horse Festival received the award at the end of the festival at Katara yesterday.

D Sharar of Dubai Arabian Horse Stud, UAE won gold in the Junior Foal Championship where RDS Armani of Al Jassimya Farm, Qatar won silver, and LR Solo Mio of Al Shahania Stud, Qatar, the bronze. Saudi Arabian D Hadeyyah, owned by Ajmal Stud, Saudi Arabia, won gold in the Junior Fillies Championship ahead of silver medalist Falak Al Shaqab, owned by Qatar Foundation member Al Shaqab, and bronze medalist D Jahraa from the Dubai Arabian Stud, UAE.

The Yearling Colts Championship gold went to Bahi Aljassimya of Aljassimya Farm, Qatar, while silver went to Amos SH owned by Sheikh Nawaf bin Nasser Al Thani (Al Nasser Stud), Qatar . Nomaas Al Jumail of Aljumail Stud, Qatar won the bronze medal.

Dubai Arabian Horse Stud’s D Expo won gold in the Yearling Fillies Championship ahead of silver champion Rayyanah Al Nasser, owned by Sheikh Nawaf bin Nasser Al Thani (Al Nasser Stud), and bronze champion D Raseel of Dubai Arabian Horse Stud.

KIAHF 2022 had a total prize of QR 17,083,500 in addition to many in-kind prizes including luxury cars and watches. The National Anthem of the Gold Medalist Horseracing Nations was played for all winners of the six Title Show classes after each class.

The officials, who worked behind the hugely successful Title Show, were honored on this occasion by Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti.
